If Lara Sánchez had always been sure of something, it was that she wanted to be the best at what she did and that nothing would deter her from her personal ambition. Raised in a middle-class family, she was the youngest of five children and the only woman. Since she was young, her family wanted to instill very traditional values in her so that she would become the perfect housewife and wife.
But that was not the future she dreamed of. In a society in which women were beginning to stand out and take a position in the business environment step by step, she was certain that she wanted to reach the top and break down every barrier that was placed in front of her.
Studious and with an analytical mind, she soon stood out for her great ability to relate to others and connect with people. Her oratory was impressive and she managed to capture the attention of everyone who listened to her. That is why she decided to study Political Sciences and joined one of the main political parties in Spain. For several years she progressed within the party with the obsession of improving and being the best.
Obviously, that ambition of hers took its toll on her. An example of this was her inability to maintain romantic relationships, since she was absorbed by work and in the end her partners ended up breaking up with her, fed up with not being able to compete with her professional career. The most painful case for her was her divorce with the person she believed was going to be the person in her life, a party colleague.
When the political debacle of 2008 happened, Lara Sánchez became self-critical. For years she had been part of a system that did not work and that caused her great disappointment. Her disenchantment materialized with her decision to abandon her political career and move to the private industry.
For three years she was in a large multinational as head of public relations. It was a frenetic period in which she lived on airplanes and was addicted to her blackberry. In 2011 she had the opportunity to apply for the public relations position of the new European Aerospace Center in Seville. That job would allow her to settle back in Spain, in a city that she loved and who knows, maybe she could finally rebuild her personal life and start a family with someone.
Being the public relations officer of what is possibly the most important development and innovation center in the world is something that makes Lara Sánchez feel a lot of satisfaction. Since the inauguration of the EAC, as the European Aerospace Center is known, she has been the face and contact for the media, institutions and numerous organizations, both public and private, related to aerospace development.
She is aware that she has a great responsibility in her hands and that as time passes and EAC completes the different phases of her development, especially with her main project, the Hermes, more eyes will fall on her. But she is not afraid of pressure or challenges. On the contrary, she feels great determination and joy for having the opportunity to continue, as she has always done since she was little, to demonstrate that she is the best at what she does.
